Chayote

YOu remember chayote back home? Everytime hubby and I went for a grocery I always had this urge to buy chayote. Back in the Philippines my mama always cook with this with beef or chicken but not much on the pork. One time I asked her about why not cooked it with the pork she says some vegetables is good to matched with beef or pork.
Today, I tried cooking pork with chayote and to have my own version of the dish I added it up with peas. The result was very good hubby like it very much and it was his first time to taste chayote. You know how they are here in America they have their own kind of vegetables but we Filipinos have more vegetables than them I guess hehehehe. I prepared onion, garlic, slice some pork, slice the chayote and took the peas out from the ref. I just stir fry first the garlic and onion, after that I put the pork put a little soy sauce then put a little water then cover for few minutes until the meat is tender. Then I put the chayote together with the peas and simmer more until the chayote gets tender. When the chayote is tender it is done. Put a salt to taste.

Chayote is one of the cheapest vegetable in the Philippines. The Philippines is actually a veritable paradise for fruits and vegetables. Too bad children prefer processed meat than fruits and vegetables. Nice to hear that your husband liked the chayote dish you cooked. You must be a very good cook. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

I know, it only hits me when I get here in US that I should be thankful of all our vegetables and fruits in the Philippines. Naku dito ang mahal kung meron man pero pag meron naman ang mahal like the mangoes and it does not come from the Philippines pa galing pa yan sa Mexico which is not as good and as sweet as what we've got in the Philippines.
Parent should tell their children to eat good food and not the junk food that are offered in chain stores they sometimes created some bad habits and will result to illnessess.
Thanks for dropping by.

Mommy Liz, oo ngayon ko lang na discover na okay pala siya sa pork. I used to mixed it with chicken too, added to the list na ang chayote from now on hehe.
