Mango float

Last Sunday hubby and I went to the supermarket for groceries and found this mango on the shelves. It was kind of cheap since in other times it cost $1 but that day it cost it only 50cents each. So I grab six pieces because I was planning to make a mango float that day. Pero di ba pag bumili tayo nang manga sa Pinas talagang sinisimhot natin hehe kasi we can identify that the mango is sweet pag may amoy na matamis. But this kind of mangoes don't have any smell at all. So I decided not to make the mango float that day because of the mangoes. Today hubby grab one and tried it jeez it is still sour. I just hope that maybe for the next two days they will become sweet although they looks sweet and ripe already.

Chayote

YOu remember chayote back home? Everytime hubby and I went for a grocery I always had this urge to buy chayote. Back in the Philippines my mama always cook with this with beef or chicken but not much on the pork. One time I asked her about why not cooked it with the pork she says some vegetables is good to matched with beef or pork.
Today, I tried cooking pork with chayote and to have my own version of the dish I added it up with peas. The result was very good hubby like it very much and it was his first time to taste chayote. You know how they are here in America they have their own kind of vegetables but we Filipinos have more vegetables than them I guess hehehehe. I prepared onion, garlic, slice some pork, slice the chayote and took the peas out from the ref. I just stir fry first the garlic and onion, after that I put the pork put a little soy sauce then put a little water then cover for few minutes until the meat is tender. Then I put the chayote together with the peas and simmer more until the chayote gets tender. When the chayote is tender it is done. Put a salt to taste.

Chili con carne

Here is one dish that hubby loves to eat chili con carne ala kim!! Yup I could say ala Kim since from the chili recipe that we usually follows I change some of the ingredients from the original recipe and discover my own recipe. The first time I made chili I used tomato sauce it came out good hubby said, but for me who isn't a lover of tomato sauce I found it not too good. Last year, after harvesting plenty of tomatoes from my step-son farm and with the help of my sister in law I made canned SALSA and tomato sauce. That is when I discover that my very own salsa can be a good substitute for making chili con carne. From then on I used my very own salsa to the chili con carne in my cooking. Hubby love it!!

Chopsuey moment

Friday was meat less day in our household. I looked inside the freezer I found shrimps I decided to cook chopsuey. I even didn't devein the shrimps as you noticed the picture but what the heck it is only me and hubby who will eat it lol. I looked some veggies and found some cabbage, carrots, green beans, cauliflower and broccoli. One thing in cooking chopsuey is like stir frying but less oil and very easy to cook. When it was done of course my number one fan is the first to taste and hubby likes it much. So there was our food last Friday our meat less day.

TGIF

Wow it is Friday again where does all the days go? It seems that everything now a days just go by so fast sometimes we had a hard time grasping what is happening.
My week was a bit busy I should say. As I looked back I only stayed at home for the whole day last Wednesday to do my household chore which is doing the laundry. Monday, hubby and me went to the bank after that we went to his nephews insurance company office to pay a whole year of insurance payment. Then we went to  Sams to shopped more carrots for our juicing and some stuff. Then we went to Sav plus to buy tilapia fish and again some stuff. Arrived home almost completely dark I was exhausted. Then Tuesday, we went for a family brunch at a nearby resto at 11 am. Hubby was excited and happy to see all his grown up children  specially those who live a little bit far from us arrived to have brunch with us. We stayed at the resto for almost 3 hours hehe. Wednesday was my time to do the laundry I thought we gonna get some woods but it is kind of chilly hubby decided not to go and it's fine with me. Tuesday after lunch we went to our tax accountant to gave the signed form that they send us. The good news is we are going to have a tax refund wohoooo!! After in the tax office we went to a gun shopped and looked around I saw this PINK beretta gun my heart melts it is just so pretty. I remembert this words "FOR YOUR EYES ONLY" because that is how I felt when I saw that pretty pink gun. Just for my eyes I don't have a license to carry nor own one wahhhh!! After window shopping in that store hubby and me went to visit my sister in law and had dinner. Then we went to a car shop to pick up her car from there we went home. The weather yesterday was not cold not too chilly so hubby decided to get busy with splitting woods of course I am with him assisting specially operating the splitter which is my favorite thing to do hehe. So it is Friday today, think it is warm enough to stay out and chill out!

I miss..

I had a craving for manga today and geez I found this picture in my folder and I was drooling. Back when I was in the Philippines it is very easy to look for unripe or hilaw na manga. Just walked to a nearby school, church or in the market and you could find a vendor who sells unripe manga with different sawsawan. My favorite sawsawan if I buy hilaw na manga is asin and for me it just compliment the sourness of manga. Had to go visit the grocery if I can find a very unripe mango just to appease my craving geez!!
