My Dinner

For the past days I tried not to eat meat but only vegetables and seafood. But today I thought to myself I am going to cook an all out leafy vegetables cook in oyster sauce and in the side is my pork adobo cooked dry no sauce as what I used to see my mother cook. Here are the photos.

Morning Glory

Last year I try to plant morning glory but it was kind of late for the season. This year I made it a point that I would plant the seeds early so I did. Now it is an envy for all since my patio/deck is loaded with morning glory and because there are plenty I cut some for my vases.

Eggplant

I like my garden this year but I did not plant a lot. I planted four eggplants this year but seems that it does not produce well. But even it did not produce a lot I got some though which is okay with me.

Beef

I forget to post this dish I made last May, lol! Yes it was made last May and I forgot to post it here. These was so good dish it taste so rich and so yummy with hot rice! Yup I can't eat well without rice hubby can't understand that but I do because I am Asian that's it, lol! Back to the dish, this are beef bones with some meat on it. I put it in a pot and let it boil until so tender. Then I seasoned it with oyster sauce and a little of light soy sauce ( be aware that it gets too salty if you don't watch how much you put on the meat), a little water. As it boil again taste it then put your veggies, like carrots and celery my favorite for this dish. I like my veggies to be crunchy a bit so I did not boil it again just simmer it a little. That's it a new dish from me!

The Blue

If you have not visited Niagara Falls, Canada you should go. Take time to visit that place because it is so beautiful! The first time we went there we did not have time to roam around since it was fall and it is cold. Few weeks ago me and my friends went to Toronto, Canada and we agreed to stop by at Niagara Falls. This time it is summer and yes I walk and roam around from end to end and it was so gorgeous! As I look at these huge body of water I just cannot comprehend how powerful the water is. I cannot even wrap in my mind where all the waters come from and where they go? In the Philippines where I live our electric power comes from a Fall but not as huge and powerful like Niagara Falls but still it provide electric power to hundred of thousand of people in the Philippines. I wonder if this Falls also provide electric power to Canada it would be nice, right?

Stir Fry Beans

I started harvesting veggies in my garden last week. The first veggie that I had was tomato and now I am harvesting beans. I like beans especially when it is stir fry. First, I let the pork fry, took out all the oil that come from the pork, then I saute the onion and garlic after  I tool a lot of oil from the pan. So saute the garlic and onion with a little oil from the pork. Then when the pork are brown put the fresh beans, put soy sauce then cover the pan and in med to low heat. When you see the beans are wilted but little crunchy that is the time to turn of the heat. Season to taste but since I put soy sauce I was hesitant to put a lot of salt because it is already salty.

I had a store bought beans. Compare it to my organic beans (in the container) from my garden.

My First Tomatoes

I thought to myself this year I am not going to have a vegetable garden but I did. I tried to do the pallet style of gardening and I am doing okay. I need mulches to cover the areas that were not planted but seems when I saw the daikon or horse radish came back from last year I did not put any mulches I just let them grow. Now I am thinking what I am going to do with all my daikon in case they all get big and grow beautifully. I guess I would do a lot of fermentation then. But here is my tomato and today I took ripe I like to eat them raw and fresh from the garden.

Meat Balls

I noticed in the grocery store the asparagus is kind of cheap at this time. So I bought one bundle and thought of making a meat balls with it. I bought a ground pork and seasoned it with salt and pepper. I then fry it then saute the asparagus with olive oil our dinner is simple.

Mushroom

I so like mushroom. One mushroom that I so like is Morrel and here in Michigan we have several Morrel farm but not close to my area. Last month hubby and I went to a hardware store and while I was in their garden checking the plants I spotted this box called Mushroom Mini Farm. It gets my attention right away so I bought it for $11.00 and followed the instructions. After 10 days I had a well blown mushroom and I did not wait for too long I cut it off and with slice onion I saute it with olive oil. Then I put it on top of the hamburger hubby made. Fresh mushroom is just too good I cannot say I won't buy this  again but with one sprout for $11.00 seems a little but expensive.

Miswa with Fish/shrimp Balls

I am so happy the Asian store that I used to go is selling fish, shrimp balls. In the Philippines it is one of street food that is very famous and common to all. It is not too expensive people could afford to buy it. Since I do not have the sauce for my fish and shrimp balls yet I cooked misua or miswa with white squash (patola). The procedure of this is very easy. Saute garlic, onion and tomato. Then put the water let it boil. Then mix the sardines ( Philippine sardine) and the meat balls let it boil. Then mix in the vegetable you want to put I put mine patola and young bokchoy (petchay). I let it simmer till the fish balls is cooked. Eat hot and with rice.
