Biko, Suman etc

                  These are some of the "kakanin" snacks that I so missed. I can see these in the market or some vendors will go from house to  house selling these stuff. Just looking by it, it makes me very hungry, lol!

Mango and Biko

You are a Filipino when you eat rice five times a day! Somebody says that to me...I was about to violently counteract that statement (LOL) but I pause for a bit and think about it, then I realized that is really true. In the Philippines, we eat rice in our breakfast, lunch and dinner, right? Now what about in between the merienda or snack time....yes...our merienda usually is biko, puto maya (glutenous rice cooked with coconut milk and some put ginger on it), puto made of rice flour etc.  All in all we eat rice all the time and over in the Philippine we remain skinny!! 

 When I arrived here in the US, I don't eat that much rice but I gained a lot of weight had a hard time losing it thankfully I did with my Slimming coffee ^_^. Biko anyone??

A friend of mine Mary went to the Philippines for a 3 weeks vacation that is a good news right? But the sad news is that when she come back to US she won't come back to Michigan rather she is going to Las Vegas(her point of entry) because they are moving to Arizona. So after all the packing and everything she gave me a huge pack of glutenous rice a pack of grated cassava (she want's me to cook huh) lol! Anyway, I was so thankful of the glutenous rice and the cassava and as we parted ways and as we said our goodbyes we both like to cry but I choose not to cry it will be just hard for both of us (sad). Anyhow, I made a biko the other day and as I make it I keep on thinking of her I don't know if she is already in Arizona or is still in the Philippines. Here is the picture of my biko or rice cake.
