Seafood

I had this pack of seafood that I bought from either the Filipino store or meijers, that I bought I think few weeks ago. I was thinking of how to cooked it, I was juggling of cooking it with tomato sauce or coconut milk or just simply stir fry. At the end, the cooking of the seafood with the tomato sauce prevails. But without the thumbs up of hubby I couldn't say that my dish is good when he gots home I serve it to him for dinner and I was clapping and showed my smile because he just love it.

My Salsa of the week

After making 19 jars of tomato sauce still I have plenty of tomatoes left. So I asked my sister in law (again) how to make salsa since hubby loves chili from salsa sauce. After an afternoon affair of making salsa which is a back breaking experienced hayyy I made 14 jars. Afterwhich, I tried my salsa dipped with potato chips it was so yummy.

Manga

Do you have a craving for this fruit? My oh my when I heard just a word of "manga" I salivate. The first time I went to the grocery store here I happened to see just two kinds of mango one is what we called in PI apple mango and the other one they called it here alfulfo which came from Mexico. Alfulfo is a little the same as the native mango in PI but the native mango in PI is much more sweeter when it gets real ripe and sour when it is not ripe. Out of my longing and craving for mango I bought the two mango. But to my dismay they are not the same as what we have in PI. But what can I do that's what I got here so I might as well enjoy it right? So here is the picture that I was eating a whole lot until my tummy says no more.

A champorado

Two days ago we have experienced too much rain. It was cold and dark and I feel it is romantic that is why I like rain. But on the other side, just like what my mother used to do in PI when it rains, I craved for something hot and soupy. I don't like making chicken soup without a fresh chicken. So I thought of making a champorado instead, the comfort food for rainy days. Then I inspected my pantry and found out some "tableya" and still smelling fresh. Here is my champorado...

This is the fresh tableya

The champorado still inside the pot.

My champorado with a lot of evaporated milk...yummy!

Every Labor Day..

Yesterday, was the 92th Hotchkiss reunion here in Michigan. The place of venue was the George Squire Park located in Lapeer. It has been that long that when I had a chance to talked to Uncle Willard he told me that when he was young at the tender age of around 7 or 8 they used to run on the hill in this park and to added it up he had a chance to see in person Major George Squire. To add it up he told me that there is a tower in that area around the park, and he said that before, you could see the tower since the trees are not tall but now it was the other way around you couldn't see the tower because the trees are tall. One couple who were married the day before yesterday told us that the tower is still there but we couldn't see it because of the trees. And the young woman says that in winter time they used it as a hiding place to keep warm when they play around the park with snow.
