This is sweet potato. Here in the US they plant this together with other plants in a huge pot because it has a nice yellowish color it blends well with other plants. But in the Philippines we don't usually put it in a pot for decoration because the top of this sweet potato plant we use it for salad. I always remember my mother used to bring this from school and she make a good salad from this. She blanch the top leaves with hot water, then she prepare vinegar, salt, tomatoes and onions then mixed it to the sweet potato leaves.

Hi Kim, I always wondered if that is the same talbos ng kamote that we eat. Is it? Can we only eat the top part? Thanks for stopping by. It's like you who would notice whether or not I ate lunch, LOL. I can't even remember is I took a break to eat....Christine

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Kim. Last year I planted 3 on top of the secret garden and they grew so long cascading down. I never used the leaves but dug out large sweet potatoes after the leaves froze.....Christine
